Once upon a time, CNN was about reporting the news. But it seems it has become simply a propaganda machine for the Democratic party. And its ‘reporters’ and contributors do all they can to parrot that line.
Case in point – Kirsten Powers.
On Friday, CNN had a panel to explore the question of why white women voted for Trump. Two years later they’re still mystified and trying to figure it out.
Then Powers said anyone white woman who voted for Trump was axiomatically racist for so doing.
[A]fter Lemon began by asking Powers her view, she recalled: “People will say that they support him for reasons other than his racist language.”
She soon added: “And they’ll say, ‘Well, I’m not racist. I just voted for him because I didn’t like Hillary Clinton.'”
The CNN contributor insinuated that everyone who voted for Trump is racist as she continued: “And I just want to say that’s not — that doesn’t make you not racist. It actually makes you racist. If you support somebody who does racist things, that makes you racist. So I just want to establish that.”
Powers continued noting that while white women were oppressed, they benefit from white supremacy through their white husbands.
I think we have to recognize that white men are doing it as well, but sometimes I think that we would hope that we would get better behavior from white women because white women are themselves are oppressed and that they would be able to align themselves with other oppressed people.
I think we have to remember that the white patriarchal system actually benefits white women in a lot of ways, and they are attached to white men who are benefiting from the system that was created by them, for them. And their fathers and their husbands and their brothers are benefiting from the system, and so they are also benefiting.
Powers has attacked white men in the past calling them “very violent and a problem.”
So does that mean because she voted for Hillary Clinton, Hillary of the “superpredator” and “hot sauce” comments that Powers is racist?
What about the people of color who voted for Trump? Are they racist too?
They just can’t get that white women, white men and yes, plenty of people of color also voted for Trump over Hillary Clinton for a variety of reasons that had nothing to do with being racists. That not being in favor of illegal immigration doesn’t make you racist, it means you believe in the rule of law and favor actual legal immigration. It means you don’t want someone who had the history of scandal that Hillary Clinton did or the lack of a plan to make any positive change. That maybe it mattered to those critical folks in the Rust Belt that Clinton blew them off and Trump promised and delivered on improving the economy.
When you make everyone racist, then you make nothing racist and that’s wrong.
It’s a way of demonizing and shutting down arguments.
And when ‘reporters’ start doing it, then they’re basically just admitting they’re Democratic activists because those are Democratic tactics.Note: The author of this article has included commentary that expresses an opinion and analysis of the facts.
